NASHVILLE, TN – Over 2,400 youth and church youth leaders packed the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center for 2019 Warmth in Winter. Youth from all across the Tennessee Conference traveled to Nashville, TN to be reminded of how we are knit together through Christ.

The theme of the conference was Woven. Based on the Colossians 2:2 which reads, “I want you to be woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God”. Those in attendance were inspired and challenged to find the threads of Christ in their lives.

Helen Grace Daniels, a high school student and member of the Warmth In Winter Design Team expressed her excitement and joy for the event. “I love being around people I don’t get to see very often and getting to spend time with them in an environment that makes me feel comfortable and welcome…” she said. Helen Grace served as the social media chair for the event.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence near the stage of a weaver with a loom, Connie Meador. The youth were fascinated to watch her create a woven altar cloth during the 3-day event.

Workshops for the Warmth in Winter covered topics that helped youth understand how threads of love are woven through our lives. Worship arts, social media, God’s calling and community service were some of the subjects of the workshops. Mandy Rodgers, a youth leader from Westland United Methodist in Lebanon, said, “this year’s workshops were some of the best led ever at Warmth in Winter.”

The event was filled with energetic and dynamic Christ encounters. Rev Samuel Yun, of Embrace Church in San Diego, CA, was the main speaker. Worship was led by The Elias Dummer band and worship artist nYk P shared his gifts through spoken word. The worship experiences were spiritual pillars of the event.

Warmth in Winter is a ministry event planned through the Tennessee Conference’s Next Gen Discipleship Ministry. It is in its 38th year. A team of young people and adults collaborate to create the experience each year. Youth lead all aspects of the event.

Preparations have already begun for the Warmth in Winter 2020 which will feature FRVR Free and Rev Toi King. For more information on the event as well as sponsorship opportunities, visit the website at
