The pandemic has caused an incredible financial crunch for United Methodist Volunteers in Mission in the Southeast Jurisdiction (UMVIM SEJ) over the last 15 months. The majority of the income that allows UMVIM to vet and support approved ministry sites comes from team registration and insurance. The travel fears and restrictions have reduced this income to practically zero.
The staff and board of directors for UMVIM SEJ have cut every possible expense while still offering ways to connect the local church with ministries around the globe. There is hope on the horizon, as travel may restart in earnest this fall.
Until then, we are asking churches, individuals, and conferences to partner with this vital ministry through the Restart initiative. There are a number of individual and congregational incentives for support on this page.
