Transforming Congregations Through Older Adult Ministries

By Richard Gentzler

We all know that people are living longer, but there is more to it than that. Older adults are transforming what it means to be 60, 70, 80 and even a 100 plus. When empowered by their congregations, older adults are reinventing the idea of old age and doing it in ways that benefits their church and community, their health, and their families. They are literally blazing a trail forward – setting the course for the rest of us to follow.

I often receive emails and phone calls from church leaders wanting information, resources, and assistance for starting intentional older adult ministries in their churches. I am only too happy to help. As the director of ENCORE Ministries, our mission is to help you and your faith community by providing training and support, resources, and networking opportunities for your ministry by, with, and for older adults.

Whether you are clergy or lay, we can help you make a difference in the life of your church. Together, we can help your congregation capture a new vision for ministry and revitalize your congregation in service.

Remember: there is no cost for this service. ENCORE Ministries is funded by a generous grant from the Golden Cross Foundation. Contact: Dr. Richard H. Gentzler, Jr. at Richard.gentzler@tnumc.com or visit our website at www.encoretnumc.org
