Confirmation is a critical part of a young person’s life in the United Methodist Church, so it’s important that their mentor is prepared for that experience, as well. Hopefully, the mentorship continues after confirmation, but that can be hard when the mentor doesn’t feel prepared for that challenge.
The online “Mentoring Young People in Their Faith” class at BeADisciple.com makes it easy for adults to learn the do’s and don’ts of mentoring a young person in their church alongside other adults from around the country. This training is written and taught by United Methodists, and it emphasizes following the local church’s boundary and safety practices. Participants in the 3-week online course will also receive quarterly newsletters with additional mentoring resources after the course has ended.
Empower your confirmation sponsors to make an impact that lasts beyond confirmation. The 3-week course costs $45. More information and enrollment for the online mentor training can be found at www.beadisciple.com/mentor . Trainings are available starting March 2nd and April 20th.
