MMC RINGS IN THE HOLIDAYS WITH CHRISTMAS PLAY
PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist College (MMC) Drama Program’s Martin Players will present an original Christmas play, “A Right Jolly Old Elf.”
“A Right Jolly Old Elf” presents the adventures of a theatre company performing a children’s play and features the character Virginia O’ Hanlon, drawing from the famous editorial in the Chicago Sun that begins, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”
Serving as creator and director of the show is English Professor Dr. Kayla Wiggins. “I have always been fascinated with folklore and the traditions associated with Santa Claus,” said Wiggins. “In fourth grade, I memorized the first half of ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas,’ and my brother memorized the second half for a school function. These interests came together when I decided to do a Christmas play based on ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas.’”
The cast includes Kasi Simms, Micah Smith, Sydney Gregory, Skylar Lovvo, Madeline Magowan, Annslee Swann, Larissa Perdomo, Lauren Pruitt, Elena Ramirez, Addison Shelton, Christopher Allen, Hagin Glover, and Robert Austell.
Courtney Hutchinson is the stage manager, and Taylor Gregory, McKinley Heard, and Fayth Dennis are crew members.
The show will be held on campus in Martin Hall Auditorium on December 8 at 7:00 p.m. and on December 9 at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 a.m. Admission is free, and the community is encouraged to attend.
