Please join us in congratulating Kylie Marino, who won a 1st place award on May 21, 2020, from the United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC). Kylie serves as the Digital Media Specialist with the TNUMC Communications staff.
Her entry, Ebenezer Hispanic Fellowship: Handprints of Change, received 1st place in the Visual Design, Artwork, Annual Conference/Local Church division.
Kylie created the piece from photographs she took of children’s handprints on the classroom walls of a church building scheduled to be closed.
In her entry Kylie said, “Walking into the kids room, you are immediately greeted from floor to ceiling with an array of tiny, multi colored hands. The longer you stare the more you notice, the patterns and placement of the prints, the progression of each child’s excitement, some neat, some messy, the colors, the space between each set of tiny hands, an overwhelming story to be told was waiting here.”
The congregation and pastor of Iglesia Metodista Ebenezer cherish the artistic preservation of this memory. Pastor Myriam Cortes said, “It’s a blessing for us to know Kylie and we are humble that she went above and beyond to preserve the beautiful hands of the Ebenezer children.”
The artwork was framed so Rev. Cortes can hang it in the congregation’s future location.
