A series of mini-documentary videos illustrating our history as the Tennessee Conference will be interspersed throughout the 2021 Annual Conference. We have put together a transparent look at the lives of the Tennesseeans called Methodists as they spread the gospel and navigated the challenges of their times.

In the spirit of our focus on Hebrews 12:1, “By Faith”, these people are part of our “great cloud of witnesses.” Their stories can inform our work of faith as we “run with perseverance the race marked out for us” and start a new chapter as the Tennessee Western Kentucky Conference.

Check out the first of these videos, showing some of the artifacts from our Conference archives:

1787-1812: Circuit Riders & Wilderness Churches

1813-1844: Camp Meetings, Sunday Schools, & Missions

1844-1860: Rise of the Methodist Episcopal Church South

1860-1865: Chaplains & Occupation

1866-1909: Reconstruction, Education, & Social Work

1910-1971: Laity, Lifestyle Ministry, & Social Justice
