The Harry Denman Evangelism Award, sponsored by The Foundation for Evangelism, honors United Methodists in each Annual Conference whose exceptional ministry of evangelism brings people into a life transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.
What distinguishes a Harry Denman Evangelism Award recipient is the commitment to consistently introduce others to the Good News of Jesus Christ in all ministry settings. Their ministry is exceptional for the number of new Christ Followers who credit encounters with this person as critical in helping to start or reignite their faith journey.
The late Harry Denman, for whom the award is named, had a decades-long, life-transforming personal ministry of evangelism as a lay person. He believed that, “the only way [to] see Christ is to see Him wrapped in a person…We need to become a package of love, a package of faith, a package of Christ; then we will be a package of evangelism.”
The Foundation for Evangelism, now in its 70th year, exists as a catalyst to equip disciples to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, ensuring that evangelism is an integral part of disciple-making. Its mission is to promote, encourage and provide resources for Wesleyan evangelism, inviting all people into life-transforming relationship with Jesus. United Methodist and Wesleyan-tradition seminaries, local churches, and college-focused ministry partners are invited into relationship to explore adaptive ministry approaches and ideas.
