Three young adults from Hispanic ministries in the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church have sensed a call to ministry and were approved by their District Committee on Ordained Ministry (dCOM) to begin the Orientation to Ministry process (OTM).
OTM is a 6-month group mentoring discernment process. It all begins and ends with a day-long opening and closing retreat with the participants, mentors, and the Office of Ministerial Concerns. The retreat is at Blackman United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.
Candidates meet with a small group of their peers and are mentored by clergy from across the Conference. During the six months, the groups meet an additional three times throughout the process.
In August 2016, a session of the OTM concluded and a new session began. Claudet Hernandez, member of the Hispanic Ministry at La Hermosa Methodist Church in Smithville, completed OTM and will continue to work through the credentialing process. Crystal Rodriguez and Alexi Resendiz, both members of Agua Viva Hispanic Ministry in Cookeville, began the OTM process.
If you feel called to ministry, please be sure to contact your pastor.
