Faith Leaders Day on the Hill
March 24 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
You are invited to participate in a Faith Leader Day on the Hill, co-hosted by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), Tennessee Justice Center (TJC), and Open Table Nashville (OTN) on Tuesday, March 24th from 9:30 AM – 4 PM. We ask that you do your very best to commit to the entire day. Training and preparation will take place in the morning, followed by meetings with legislators in the afternoon.
In this current climate of divisive and hateful rhetoric, the need for moral leadership and humanizing conversations are incredibly important. That is why we are bringing together faith leaders across traditions to engage with our elected officials about our values as Tennesseans and speak to the impact state legislation has on our congregations and communities. We recognize immigration, healthcare, and housing to be priority issues for many faith communities, as these issues lie at the center of our traditions’ teachings on how we are to treat our neighbor. We hope this can be a time to envision a state that is truly welcoming and legislation that betters the lives of all Tennesseans.
Please register for the Day on the Hill by filling out this brief form. (https://forms.gle/ZjGfd6npWMsZZLGA6)
The Day on the Hill is intended especially for faith leaders, clergy and lay leaders, rather than people of faith broadly. There will be future opportunities for all communities to participate in other events and actions. Please consider encouraging a leader of your faith community to attend, or to appoint a representative to attend. Faith leaders from all traditions and denominations are invited and welcomed to attend.
