Bethlehem UMC Grassland Gallop 6K Run and Family Fun Run
October 29, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm$25
Mark your calendars and join us for the fourth annual Grassland Gallop 6K Run and Family Fun Run hosted by Bethlehem United Methodist Church. This family event is designed to bring together the Grassland community. This year, the event will benefit the local non-profit Love on Wheels which assists children in the foster care system.
The 6K run route starts at 8 am at Grassland Middle School on Saturday, October 29. There will be prizes for the top male and female finishers in each age division. The 2K walk and the kids’ fun run both take place on the nature trail adjacent to the school.
This year’s race will feature a costume contest for all ages with prizes for best costumes. There will be entertainment and kids activities at the 6K start/finish line.
Race registration is $25 in advance of the race which includes chip timing at the race, race t-shirt and goodie bag. Love On Wheels is asking race participants to please bring a package of children’s underwear as a donation on the day of the race.
Founder of Love on Wheels, Kathy Kunkel, D.V.M., said she believes this great community event will be a wonderful way to show children we care.
“Many children entering the foster care system carry around their few personal belongings in trash bags,” said Kunkel. “As we prepare for the Grassland Gallop & fulfill our mission of filling suitcases with new & safe essential/comfort items, we inspire dialogue about the foster care system in general & the needs of these deserving children.”
Every year, the Bethlehem United Methodist Church’s Grassland Gallop raises money & awareness for a local nonprofit.
“As we continue to take action & raise awareness, we improve the lives of the children & deliver a message of hope & encouragement,” Kunkel said.
“Love on Wheels was founded and is operating in right here in Grassland. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in this annual, family-fun, Grassland community event,” Kunkel said.
