The Tennessee Conference Disaster Response Ministry provides leadership for disaster readiness, relief and recovery by offering training, resources and ‘people power’ to assist local churches in their own disaster response ministry. Our teams work out of each conference district under the direction of the Disaster Response Coordinator (DRC) for the Nashville Episcopal Area, Robert Craig. He can be reached at DisasterResponse@tnumc.org.
We are in partnership with the local, county and state Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and many other disaster response organizations.
United Methodist Committee On Relief: UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. UMCOR’s work on behalf of United Methodists is global and includes countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean. UMCOR serves in long-term disaster recovery in the US.
United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Southeastern Jurisdiction: UMVIM, SEJ is the short-term mission sending agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. UMVIM exists to promote, encourage, and enable Chistians to exemplify “Christian Love in Action” through short-term mission service at home and abroad.
