The Tennessee Conference would like to congratulate the three recipients of the Young Adult Scholarship to the Mission in the East Congo:

Tessa Pruitt, Martin Methodist College
LaFayette UMC

“If someone ever asked me where I believe I saw God, I would describe Psalm 34:17,’When the righteous cry out for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.’ At first glance, you would believe delivering them out of all their troubles mean the troubles would go away and not be present anymore. I read this scripture with a different perspective: God delivers us by allowing us to be joyful and feel Him amidst our troubles, rather than from our troubles.”

Kandice Martin, Martin Methodist College
Key Memorial UMC

“Extending my mission to other countries will open my eyes in the call for missionary nursing; however, not just helping people in medicine but helping in all ways: emotionally and spiritually. I would like to keep chasing my calling God has given me, and serving internationally will be a great way for me to expand my mission work.”

Anna Burnett, Tennessee Tech University
Redemption Church

“God has placed a love and passion in me like no other for this amazing and beautiful country…When my minister leader told me about this trip, I felt a new feeling almost immediately, kind of like an open door. I began to pray about this trip, and every time I prayed, I felt peace about it. The open door feeling for this trip kept growing. I am excited to start the journey into this country full of people that have driven my passions for years.”
