Belmont UMC 2017 Mexico Team (missing 3 members)

Twelve persons from Belmont UMC and Martin Methodist College were served Holy Communion and commissioned during worship on January 1 at Belmont UMC. They leave January 5 for a 10 day “Alternative Work/Study And Reality Experience” [AWARE] with our neighbors in Mexico.

There they will be working, living and learning about many aspects of sustainable living, the care of God’s creation, and sharing their faith, especially among rural persons living in poverty; and developing relationships with our brothers and sisters in the Methodist Church of Mexico in the “Give Ye Them To Eat” integrated development ministry there.

The group, with four students from Martin Methodist, represents the diversity of Belmont UMC as well as being quite inter-generational. Thank you for supporting these missioners with your prayers as they go to serve!

If you or your church want to sponsor a group or want more information about participating in a Volunteers In Mission team, please contact Angela Overstreet, Coordinator of Missional Engagement at or Sarah Matthews VIM Conference Coordinator at
