This week, Cedar Crest is celebrating its largest week of camp in many years! Campers from over 15 different United Methodist Churches as well as many other campers are joining together to make this week one to remember. Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High groups are growing together in worship and devotions, capture the flag, archery, canoeing, arts and crafts and much more. Junior and Senior high groups are getting to experience the new high ropes course at Cedar Crest as well!
Evaluations from the first two weeks of camp this summer have also been outstanding. A parent wrote: He had the best time, and has been a non stop chatter box about everything he experienced! He is asking to go for 2 weeks next summer. I can’t believe how much he learned, how much he grew in his faith, and how more confident he is after 5 days with your staff! This morning he cooked breakfast for all of us, served it, and lead the prayer. He can’t say enough great things about his counselors.
Songbird, the new set of cabins at Cedarcrest has been a huge hit so far. Campers have really enjoyed being closer to the main camp area as well as the new spacious bedrooms and individual bathrooms for respective cabins. Said one Senior High camper this week “when I was little I got to stay in the old cabins at Cedar Crest and that was okay. But it’s really nice to stay in these new cabins that are much cleaner and safer and nicer…it makes me feel like I’m right at home!”
Next week marks Cedar Crest’s first ever Youth Mission Week, where youth groups are gathering for a mission experience centered at camp, but moving out to do work in the surrounding areas as well. We celebrate another summer of large growth, though we do still have spots available for elementary and junior high campers in our last three weeks of camp. The weeks of July 10-15, July 17- 22, and July 24-29 all have opening for both Junior High and Senior High campers.
