Lyles, Tennessee—More than 90 children and adult leaders attended the first conference-wide children’s retreat at Cedar Crest on October 22 and 23. Participants from 13 conference churches took part in adventure-themed games, activities, worship, small group sessions and fellowship throughout the two-day retreat. Our theme was “Be Bold, Be Fearless, Be Faithful” as we shared in Bible stories to better explore living fearless faith.
Children and adults alike enjoyed capture the flag, s’mores around the campfire, scavenger hunts and much more. Through interactive worship and small group activities, participants learned about leaders from scripture and the ways in which they lived adventurously to answer God’s call. Participants spent time in reflection and discussed how to fearlessly and faithfully live as followers of Christ in hopes to transform the world. One children’s minister wrote in evaluation: “My children are fired up about Jesus and sang songs all the way back to our church! This retreat has them so excited about God and we cannot wait to come back next year!”
Next year’s Fall children’s retreat at Cedar Crest will be held October 21-22, 2017.
Cedar Crest Camp, a United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministry, is committed to being a place where children, youth and adults discover and connect to God’s call to transform the world.
