Katie Woodard, Associate Director, APSU Wesley Foundation

APSU Tapestry awardThe Wesley Foundation at Austin Peay State University is excited to announce that they are the recipient of the “Outstanding Co-Sponsored Program of the Year” award from APSU Student Organizations. This award recognized the Equality Workshop Series which we sponsored in conjunction with the APSU Gay-Straight Alliance. This award recognizes collaboration, diversity, development, and leadership at Austin Peay. They had several students from other universities come to learn about their partnerships with other organizations and participate in the workshops. This year the Wesley Foundation has also co-sponsored events with the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center and the Department of African American Studies. We brought Ndume Olastushani to campus to speak about the “Cradle to Prison Pipeline”. We also supported the Active Minds chapter at APSU to bring the “Send Silence Packing” suicide awareness event to our community.

One of our student leaders and Tapestry scholarship recipient, Dani Hunter, also received the Governer’s Pride Senior Leadership Award. She has been a great leader for the Wesley for over two years and has been an important part of these partnerships.
