powerful collective worship

Your Annual Conference Design Team listened to your feedback from last year and has created time and space for you:

  • To experience true connection with one another,
  • to participate in powerful collective worship, and
  • to leave inspired and with the tools you need to build effective disciple-making systems in your own context.

At the conference, we are joining a movement called “See All The People,” moving toward organic, authentic and consistent relationships that intentionally make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Informal videos our team put together to provide you with more detail about opportunities that will be available this year:

Worship Team Chair, Jackson Henry

Below, Jackson Henry shares an overview of the powerful collective worship planned by the Annual Conference Worship Team as well as details on worship services for each day.

Powerful collective worship

The worship services for this year’s annual conference have been constructed deliberately and diligently to help us find ways to #SeeAllThePeople and engage in prayer as we fulfill our mission.

9 a.m. Opening Worship to include the celebration of saints we have lost this year.

During the Wednesday morning opening worship service, we will remember the saints we have lost, creating an intersection with the past, present, and future, as we remember the saints and continue to build upon the work begun by God in and through them. Rev. Junius Dotson will bring a message that calls us to engage and build relationships in our communities.

7 p.m. Service of Ordination, Commissioning, and Licensing to be followed by an informal reception in the Family Life Center.

Wednesday evening will be a holy time of licensing, commissioning, and ordination and Bishop McAlilly will preach a message for us all to remember the call God has placed upon our lives.

Clergy – if you plan to robe and join the processional, please let us know so we can reserve adequate seating. Fill out this FORM. Thank you.

Worship in three parts

Thursday marks a change in rhythm of worship from years past. Because of the nature of where we are as a church, as a conference, and as an Episcopal Area, the design and worship teams for this year’s conference believe we need to be a people engaged in intentional times of prayer.

On Thursday morning, we will begin a three-part service of prayer with communion and Donna Parramore preaching. The services of intentional prayer will continue on Thursday evening and Friday morning.

1 – THURSDAY – 8:30 a.m. Day of Discernment Prayer Service with Communion

2 – THURSDAY – 5:15 pm. Day of Discernment District Gathering Prayer Services (includes dinner and a time of shared learning)

3 – FRIDAY – 9  a.m. Day of Discernment Prayer Service
