Communications Intern (Part-time, Paid)

Spring semester 2020, with possibility of extension to mid-June.

Opportunity to be a part of the growing Connectional Ministries communications team at the Tennessee Conference of The United Methodist Church. This intern will have many hands-on opportunities including:

  • Conduct online research and interviews to write articles, news briefs, and social media posts.
  • Assist with webpage, App, e-news, and evaluation tools for the June annual conference.
  • Assist with video scripts and storyboarding, setting and filming video shoots, observe and assist with post production processes
  • Assist with review and updates of WordPress website to keep site current.
  • Participate in strategic communications planning for important conference events, issues, and concerns.
  • Update contact lists for various ministry and event constituencies.
  • Draft weekly email newsletters – pulling together links to articles, events, etc.

Must possess and have prior experience and/or exposure with:

  • Attention to detail and deadlines
  • Good time management skills
  • WordPress, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Adobe (or similar software)
  • Photography & Videography (video editing skills a plus)
  • Writing for online and print publications

Part-time (15-20 flexible hours per week) Monday – Friday hours in a business office setting at 304 S. Perimeter Park Drive near the Harding Place exit off I-24, south of Nashville.

Candidate must be sympathetic with the Christian faith and purpose of the United Methodist Church. Past or current participation in a congregation of a Christian church preferred but not required.

Prefer candidates with communications background who are currently enrolled juniors, seniors or Master’s students, or those who have completed a degree within the past year.
