Bellevue United Methodist Church is a congregation located on the west side of Nashville working to more intentionally grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through welcome and hospitality; building genuine relationships with God, one another, and our larger community; and meaningful engagement in ministries of compassion and justice.
The purpose of the Church Administrator is to provide essential clerical and administrative office support for the pastoral and staff leadership as well as the lay leadership of the church.
Coordination and training of office volunteers; management of church calendar, building reservations, and church bus usage; maintain office equipment and supply inventories;
Communication & Clerical Support
Greet and assist congregation and community members during office hours: in person, by phone, and through email; prepare weekly worship bulletin and newsletters; assist various committees and ministry teams as needed with clerical support;
Records, Documents, and Correspondence
Assist the Membership Secretary in the ongoing maintenance of the membership database, the Columbarium Committee in maintenance of records, and the Financial Secretary and Treasurer with communication needs; correspond with pastoral staff and Congregation Care team any health and wellness concerns of the congregation; oversee a visitor follow-up system; maintain Safe Sanctuaries database, honoring the highest level of confidentiality; update and maintain the Office Manual; other duties as assigned, within the capacity of this position.
Ideal candidate would have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be servant- minded in willingness to assist staff and lay leadership in essential clerical and office support, while demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and additional software such as membership database. Some basic marketing and advertising principles and functions are preferred.
Lay leadership is essential to the overall health of the church; therefore, the Church Administrator is expected to work alongside to empower laity in this ministry.
Must undergo a background check as well as attend a church-provided Safe Sanctuary training. Safe Sanctuary provides a caring and secure environment for children, youth, and vulnerable adults in all areas of church life.
Average time commitment: currently 9am – 3pm (Mon. – Thurs.), ~24 hrs. per week Hourly Salary: $18-20 per hour with vacation and sick time
