Director of Marketing and Ministry Engagement, The Upper Room Center, (exempt) – Reports to Executive Director, Upper Room Center for Christian Spiritual Formation

The Director of Marketing and Ministry Engagement, in conjunction with Center leadership, sets the strategic marketing direction for print/digital resources and program ministries offered by The Upper Room Center. Works with the Center content team to produce and market content that maximizes revenue, meets organizational standards, and is relevant to the Center audience. Supervises marketing team and is responsible for profit and loss performance; provides financial forecast and creates and adjusts strategies to achieve forecast; measures return on investment for all products and marketing efforts.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive book publishing and trade marketing principles and strategies; demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in direct marketing, collateral, web, events and trade sales; excellent leadership, communication, team-building, budget management, organizational, prioritization, and language skills are critical. Microsoft office software products and electronic media skills; demonstrated quantitative analysis skills; thorough understanding of economics of book publishing; demonstrated communication skills and cultural sensitivity; ability to use discernment, judgment, and initiative; and continuous improvement knowledge. Preferred knowledge of The United Methodist Church.

Education / Experience

Master’s Degree or equivalency / Experience in publishing, marketing; statistical analysis and CRM analysis; supervision and staff development; strong people skills, ability to do research; organizational skills; ability to conceptually think through processes; ability to manage concurrent multiple projects; ability to exercise courtesy and tact with a diverse group of external customers / Ten years of related experience in marketing, publishing, business management; and preferred experience in church relations.
