Applications for the Tom & Betty Cloyd Scholarship Fund

Several years ago friends and family of Tom and Betty Cloyd established a scholarship fund in their honor. Each year a scholarship is given to a student who has been a member of a United Methodist Church in the Tennessee Conference for at least two years. The student must also be enrolled in or accepted to a United Methodist related college or university.

Friends,
Hillcrest UMC will be hosting what we hope will be a multi-partner potato drop on Saturday, May 19.

This is an emergency situation as these potatoes will be dumped in a landfill if not gleaned and distributed.

I am writing to ask if you can make your church aware of this event and encourage your folks to come to Hillcrest on Saturday and volunteer to bag these potatoes in preparation for distribution to hungry neighbors.

What is needed:
· Volunteers to bag potatoes
· Funds to pay for the cost of the shipping In the original appeal from Society of St. Andrew (below) it states that anywhere between $1000.00 to $2500.00 will be needed. Hillcrest will donate at least $300.00 and up to 500.00 of this amount.

Please "sound the alarm" and invite your folks to come and help. It is a great way for families with children to serve together and for people of all ages to make a difference by getting food to hungry people.
