Trips, Training, and Scholarships

In order to promote the continued growth in the number of individuals and churches serving Christ through Volunteers in Mission trips, Conference Mercy and Mission will be providing several opportunities to SERVE, LEARN, GIVE, and RECEIVE. SERVE       Conference-sponsored trips to the Gulf Coast and Guatemala will be held later this year, dates and info TBA at VIM page at www.tnumc.org.  Check there also to see where different church/district led teams are going (at least those that have been shared with us).
 
LEARN       Ever wanted to lead a VIM Team (or wanted some pointers)?  VIM Leadership Training will be planned for the Spring.  In the mean time, give us a ring and someone would be glad to help provide some assistance in preparing and planning a trip.

GIVE           Support others in mission by making gifts to the VIM Conference Advance Special, more than a dozen scholarships were awarded in 2008 due to generous gifts.
 
RECEIVE  Scholarships will be offered up to 4 times per year to provide financial incentives for participation in a VIM experience. (see details below). 

VIM Scholarships Details

--2+ scholarships per quarter, as applications and funding are available
--Awards normally range from $200-500 and are up to ½ trip cost
--Priority will be given to persons on 1^st VIM trip, younger adults (no specific age), and persons with financial need
--Number and amount of awards depend on funds available from budget and VIM Advance gifts
